Tyler Lutz of Collinsville, son of Kevin and Deb Lutz, has achieved the highest rank that Boy Scouts of America offers, the rank of Eagle Scout. An Eagle Scout Court of Honor will be held for him at 2pm on March 11, 2012 at Faith Lutheran Church in Owasso.

Tyler began his scouting career as a Bear Cub in Pack 53 at Collinsville Elementary. His Pack leader was Pat Murphy and his Den leaders were Donnie and D’Ann Kallam and David Means. He advanced through the Cub Scouting ranks and earned the Arrow of Light, in February 2006. During his time in Cub Scouts Tyler won awards in popcorn sales, Pinewood Derby races, Space Derby races and Raft Regattas.

In 2006, Tyler crossed over from Cub Scouts to join Boy Scout Troop 84, which is sponsored by Faith Luther Church of Owasso. Kent Wahlgren and Jeff Morgan served as his Scoutmasters. He participated in summer camps at Camp Tom Hale in Oklahoma and Elk Horn Scout Reservation in Colorado. He also hiked the Appalachian Trail in Tennessee and North Carolina. Tyler participated in 85 nights of camping, he hiked 125 miles, and biked over 300 miles. He became a member of the Order of the Arrow in April of 2011.

For his Eagle Project, Tyler built a storage closet/bookshelf unit for the Veteran’s of Foreign Wars Joe Keith Post 3077 in Collinsville. Tyler has spent many hours in volunteer service to this VFW Post, some of his activities there include mowing, assisting with a 4th of July fund raising event, he has helped paint and clean up the Post, and on many Federal Holidays he assists the Veterans when they set out flags throughout the Collinsville community.

Tyler’s Eagle Scout Board of Review was held on January 24, 2012 and his Review Board consisted of Cheryl Worden, District Representative, Scott Storer, Troop 84 Assistant Scout Master, Jon Coleman, Collinsville High School Principle, Stacy Dutton, Collinsville High School Teacher and Special Olympic Coach, and Don and Eleanor Lenaburg, VFW and Ladies Auxiliary Members of Post 3077.

Tyler earned the following Eagle Merit badges: Camping, Citizenship in the Community, Citizenship in the Nation, Citizenship in the World, Communications, Emergency Preparedness, Environmental Science, First Aid, Cycling, Swimming, Hiking, Personal Management Personal Fitness and Family Life. Tyler also earned the Pottery, Textile Safety, Orienteering, Radio, Dog Care and Electricity badges.
