Tulsa Airport Authority Press Release
By Alexis Higgins
New Art Installed at Tulsa International Airport
Tulsa, OK -- June 14, 2012 - Tulsa International Airport hosted a formal dedication of two new works of art this morning as part of the Airport's Art and Culture Program initiative.

The two 13x40 foot photography collages produced by Mia Bella Art have been installed in the airport's baggage claim areas. The collages aptly named 'Signs of Life' and "Get Your Kicks On" include many local businesses, landmarks, and various points of interest around Tulsa and Oklahoma Route 66 areas. 'Signs of Life' was installed in Baggage Claim A while 'Get Your Kicks On' was installed in Baggage Claim B.

The artist, Liz Ingersoll explains that her goal was "to create a glimpse of the past, present and bright future of Oklahoma!" She hopes that her montage of images will inspire people to connect to art, Tulsa and Oklahoma in a way they never have before and then go see these various places while visiting Tulsa and the state.

The installation was selected by the airport's Cultural Advisory Group because it showcases so many of the wonderful treasures that Oklahoma offers. Ken Busby, chair of the airport's Cultural Advisory Group and CEO of the Arts & Humanities Council of Tulsa, notes that Liz Ingersoll's work is very engaging and very approachable. It will enliven the baggage claim areas, and should start conversations as people come and go from the airport." Airports Director Jeff Mulder welcomes the addition and shared, "This piece highlights the destinations that make our City unique and is a perfect entree to our guests as to what adventures are available for their discovery during their visit."

Prints of the collages installed at Tulsa International Airport will soon be available for purchase in the shops at TUL. Net proceeds will support future airport art installations.

Collinsville "photo/artist" Liz Ingersoll (center) had two massive photo displays dedicated at Tulsa International Airport this morning (June 14, 2012). Liz has been a Collinsville resident for about 5 years and just recently opened a shop (Mia Bella Art) in Historic Downtown Collinsville. Visitors to either baggage claim area at the airport will be staring at her arrangements of iconic Tulsa and Route 66 images for years to come. Helping (with the speeches and real sissors above) were Ken Busby and Alexis Higgins in front of "Signs of Life".
