Depot Fond Memories
Ted,
Thanks so much for the recent articles on the depot and other related articles. They bring back some very fond memories of Collinsville. My brother (Jerry Wheeler) and I grew up in Collinsville and our Father (James Wheeler) was the signal maintainer there from 1955 to 1971. This was his first "permanent" job as he was on the section gang from 1945 to 1955 and moved from town to town (steam engines I remember with a smile..) until his job in Collinsville.

Thanks Again,
David Wheeler

Texas Based Drum Corps Practiced In Collinsville Wednesday (With Two Former CHS Color Guard Members)
To prepare for a formal competition with other drum corps later in the day at Broken Arrow, "Genesis" arrived in Collinsville at 3am July 18th. After a few hours sleep they started final show preparation (in the heat) at Collinsville's Sallee Field. Two former Collinsville Crimson Cadet Band members (CHS 2010 - Michaela Bocock and Stacye Dick) are members of Genesis and are the two flag ladies in the photo above in a brief return to their "home" field.

Most folks missed a free preview today (right here in Collinsville) of a big bucks show later today in Broken Arrow. The air temp was at least 100 degrees and the on-field temps were much higher with two of the Genesis corps members being transported to hospitals for heat related issues. -- Ted 2:40pm Wed. July 18th. The group from the Rio Grand stayed and practiced at Collinsville facilities today after arriving at 3am..

Band News: FROM MR. NEWHART (7/16/2012)

We are hosting a drum corps this Wednesday (July 18th) at Sallee Field. They will have sectionals from 8:30AM-12PM, and a full band rehearsal from 1-3PM. All Cadets (even those who haven't marched yet) are expected to be there at least for the full band rehearsal if you are in town. Please take advantage of this huge opportunity to see awesome musicians practicing their show!!!! If you are in town, and can get a ride, this is a must for all CCC members. Two former CCC members will be in this corps, Michaela Bocock, and Stephanie Elmore. We look forward to seeing you at these rehearsals. Stay hydrated, and get acclimated to being outside. Summer Band begins July 30. Details to follow!!!
