5A State Wrestling finals wins by Davion Jeffries, Gary Wayne Harding, Dylan Helm and Will Steltzlen earned them individual state titles. Christian Moody finished 2nd in the finals Saturday night at OKC.
Collinsville's ten state qualified wrestlers racked up 124 total team points (in 31 individual matches listed right) to take most of the suspense out of the 5A team race with 2nd place Altus 45 points behind at 79 total. Third place Deer Creek Edmond had 74 points, Guthrie had 71 and Claremore had 69 points in fifth place. The young Cardinal team walked off with their second straight 5A State Team trophy.
Wyatt Jordan (120), Zach Abkemeier (152) and Jake Barton (160) had one Friday loss that send them into Saturday mornings consolation round where Wyatt and Zach won two matches for 3rd place state finishes. Jake Barton won his first consolation match but lost the next in overtime for a 4th place state finish. Grant Patton (170) and Keenan Priddy (195) were eliminated in Friday's matches.
2012 Best 5A State Wrestles At Their Weight -- (L-R): Gary Wayne Harding, Davion Jeffries, Dylan Helm & Will Steltzlen. Jeffries is a first time HS State Champ as a freshman while Harding, Helm & Steltzlen are repeat champions from 2011.
Davion Jeffries defeated Markwae Sanders (Duncan) 3-0 in the finals for 106 pound 5A State title.
CHS Cheerleaders were mat side cheering the Cardinals on to success.
Christian Moody was pinned in his finals match by Gunnar Woodburn (Claremore) and had to settling for State runner-up at 113 pounds.
Wyatt Jordan had suffered an opening round loss to Cole Powers (Lawton Mac) but avenged that with a decison in the consolation finals for 3rd place at 120 pounds.
Gary Wayne Harding defeated Mark Carter (East Central) for the 126 pound State title. Gary was state champ at 112 pounds in 2011 as a freshman.
Dylan Helm pinned Aaron Guery (Western Heights) for the 132 pound 2012 State title. Dylan was State Champ at 125 in 2011 and runner up at 119 in 2010 as a freshman.
Will Steltzlen defeated Jazer Duran (Southeast) for the 138 pound 2012 State 5A title. Will was the 119 pound champ in 2011 as a freshman.
Zach Abkemeier pinned Devin Bilyeu (Guthrie) in the first consolation round (above) Saturday then decisioned Christian Carnahan (Duncan) for 3rd place at 152 pounds.
Jake Barton decisioned Jamie Shawver (Del City, above) before a tough overtime loss to Jake Welt (Harrah) placed him 4th in the State at 160 pounds.

Grant Patton was the only senior that qualified for State this year with all of the points contributed by underclassman who hold a promising future for continued CHS wrestling success.

Matches are still being wrestled but Collinsville is done with 124 points and the 5A State Wrestling Championship with finals wins by Jeffries, Harding, Helm and Steltzlen.
