2012 Top 10 Green Gifts |
December 7, 2012
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE The Metropolitan
Environmental Trust (The M.e.t.) presented the annual Top Ten Green
Gifts of 2012, yesterday, to a small group of environmental leaders.
Creative Media Director, Annie Brady, brought sample gifts to speak
about with the Sustainable Tulsa roup that meets for a monthly meeting
at Eloté Café and Catering. The M.e.t. has provided
a list of Green Gifts for over 15 years in order to help the public
with gift giving. They provide this list to help create a safer and
cleaner community. A true Green Gift is one that will be used many times
over the course of many years. One that comes packaged responsibly and
does not produce a surplus of waste. This type of gift can be affordable
and priceless a present that can potentially save the planet
is a gift for everyone! THE TOP TEN GREEN GIFTS: 1. BICYCLES They are trendy, great for exercise, transportation and are non-polluting. Prices go from under $75 to over $7,500. 2. WATER FILTER
- Filtered water pitchers are sold at grocery stores and can replace
up to 300 bottles of water with each filter. We found a Bobble pitcher
at Target for under $20. 5. KID-POWERED TOYS
- Battery-powered toys can do more harm to our environment with improper
disposal of those batteries that wear out fast. A wooden desktop basketball
game is fun for the home or the office and can be found at JCPenny for
$17. 7. RECYCLED DOOR MAT - Door mats help clean the bottom of shoes and protect your carpets or wooden floors. We found one at Ace Hardware that sells for under $19. 8. GLASS STORAGE
CONTAINERS - Glass storage containers will keep food fresher and make
leftovers part of the next meal. A set of three bowls with lids sells
for just under $20 at Target. 10. SMALL RECYCLING
BIN - Any container can be labeled or hand painted to become a recycling
bin or you can buy them in fashionable colors and styles, we found one
at Target for under $10. We hope you enjoy
these wonderful green gifts ideas! For more information, please contact
Annie Brady at annie@metrecycle.com or at (918) 584-0584. Or contact

"Forgiveness" At Wilson Elementary |
Wilson Students are
learning about the word "forgiveness" during the month of December.
Forgiveness means to stop being angry about something and excuse somebody
for a mistake, misunderstanding, or wrongdoing. Our quote for forgiveness
is: When you forgive, you dont change the past, but you do
change the future. by Bernard Meltzer
First and second grade students were chosen from each class this week who show that they understand and can show forgiveness to others. -- Lee Ann Due 12/7/2012 |
