Cleanup
Sets Good Example (at 1622 W. Oak)
|
Attached are before
and after pictures of the property at 1622 W. Oak. This particular property
has had ongoing issues for at least six years and maybe even before that.
Recently the Hutchinson family bought the property and has done a very
good job of cleaning up the yard and maintaining it for several months.
A decision was made a few weeks ago to take down the structure and today
that happened. A big pat on the back goes out to the Hutchinson family
for taking pride in their community and the hope is that other property
owners with blighted or dilapidated structures will do the same.

70th
Wedding Anniversary
|
These are my grandparents Carmelita and Merrill (Red) Phelps. They don't live here in Collinsville but since my mother and I have lived in Collinsville for many a lot of people know them. They are from the Tulsa/Sand Springs area. On September 7th they will be celebrating their 70th wedding Anniversary. This is a milestone that most people don't make it to, so I just wanted to share. They are the parents of 7 daughters, grandparents of 8, great grandparents of 9 and great-great grandparents of 1. My grandfather served in World War II and then after getting out of the service provided for his family by working for the United States Postal service. My grandmother was a stay at home mother caring for the house and the girls. I'm very proud to say that these two wonderful people are my grandparents and we love them very much. HAPPY 70TH ANNIVERSARY GRANDMOTHER AND GRAN-GRAN WE LOVE YOU BOTH - Carolyn Jensen (granddaughter) and Jane Webb (daughter #4) -- (9/4/2011) |
Summer Fading? |
As little as a week ago cool weather (much less cold weather ) was barely imaginable after our hottest summer ever with many daytime highs exceeding 110 and evening lows staying in the high 80s. But the Labor Day weekend weather has "turned on a dime" and has me thinking of fall and winter. I've had this "filler" photo waiting for a page since the end of July and this seems like the right time and place to use a view of the city park splash pad. There is no set date for turning off the water (as we likely have several more hot afternoons) but city staff will determine when a winter shutdown is appropriate. -- Ted 9/6/2011 |
