Middle School Teacher of the Year 2011-2012
Deborah Tomblinson was born in Missouri. Her father was transferred several times in his job so the family lived in Missouri, Iowa, Colorado, and Texas. Her family moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma, in 1965. She attended Eli Whitney Junior High School and in 1969 graduated from East Central High School. She then attended the University of Tulsa. She graduated from TU in 1973.

Her first teaching job was in Weslaco, a small south Texas town five miles from the Mexican border. She taught ninth and tenth grade English there for four years. In 1978 she moved back to Tulsa. In 1979 she began teaching eighth grade English at Collinsville Middle School. During her years in our district she has taught both seventh and eighth grade English.

Herald Teacher of the Year 2011-2012
Donna Myers
Since I am a former Collinsville High School graduate, I feel blessed to be teaching in the Collinsville school system. After graduating from Collinsville High School I attended the University of Oklahoma and received my Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education. In 2004 I received my National Board for teaching certificate. This is my twelfth year teaching fourth grade at Herald Elementary. I am truly honored to have a job where I can make an impact and a difference on a child’s life.

I have been married for seven years to my husband, Jeremy. We have three beautiful children Grant, Heston, and Ellee. I am looking forward to my children attending Collinsville Schools starting next year.

Wilson Teacher of the Year 2011-2012
Marney Flippo

Education -- Marney graduated in 1989 from Owasso High School. She then attended Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College and graduated with her Associates Degree in Arts in 1991 at which time she began pursuing her Bachelor’s Degree from Northeastern State University in Tahlequah. Marney graduated in May of 1993 with her Bachelor’s of Science in Education from NSU.

Experience -- After staying at home with her two oldest children until they were both of school age, Marney began her teaching career at Wilson Elementary where she has remained for the past 5 years.

Family -- Marney comes from a long line of teachers from both sides of her family. Teachers in her family have held positions from superintendent to classroom teacher. She has 2 sistersand a brother, and a multitude of nieces and nephews. She has two children in the Collinsville school district who will soon be joined by a third. Her oldest child, Pete, is 13 and a 7th grader at Collinsville Middle School. Sydney-11, her middle child, is a 4th grader at Herald Elementary. Peyton who is 2 will begin her education—as soon as possible…

Hobbies and Interests -- Marney is an avid Collinsville Cardinals fan and attends as many sporting events as possible. She loves watching her children’s many sports and activities. (Actually, Marney immensely enjoys sports of all kinds.) Going to the Lake and snow skiing are among many other activities that she takes pleasure in as well.

Early Childhood Center (ECC)Teacher of the Year 2011-2012
Julie Kelly

I have had the opportunity to be in the classroom for five years now. It has been the best five years I could have hoped for. I believe that my goal as a teacher plays an integral part in creating the future of our community and our world. Since I teach Kindergarten, my students are at the most impressionable time of their lives. I believe it is imperative that teachers instill good values, build high esteem, and light a fire within our students to acquire knowledge and skills that will help them become successful members of society. In this regard, as teachers, we help mold children’s self-worth. Teachers should diligently strive to help students become self-sufficient, self-motivated and productive citizens. I am so blessed to have this role. I cherish it every day. I face challenges every now and then as I help students learn and develop, but this keeps my day interesting and keeps me on my toes. I could not be an effective and compassionate teacher without the love and support I am afforded by my lovely family. I have a wonderful husband, Chris and two charming sons, Jacob and Caleb. I am truly honored to be recognized by my colleagues as the 2010 - 2011 Teacher of the Year for the Collinsville Early Childhood Center although I must admit being able to spend time with and teach my students daily is a huge reward in and of itself.
