The 4th section of Streetscape Phase II is now in the construction mode also (from 10th to 9th on the north side of Main). As of Saturday the old sidewalks were gone and some of the initial new curbs were poured.
The driveways for the fire department and city offices had been partially blocked for about a week as irrigation and wiring and new pavement sections were added to tie into the exiting (Phase I) improvements that ended at City Hall before. The lanes were all open today (Jan. 12th).
S-Curve Utility Re-Location Continues Also
Not part of the downtown streetscape ... but there has been a rather large hole in the roadway at 17th and Main (near Piggly Wiggly) for a few weeks now as relocation of utilities continues in anticipation of bids by March for the actual S-Curve roadway re-alignment.
The businesses on the north side of Main from 9th to 10th will have wooden walkways for awhile until the new sidewalks are ready.
The first snow of this winter (Sunday-Monday) may slow work a bit. Not much snow ... but temperatures are expected to stay below freezing for several days.
