Softball Trio To Texas

Ted,

These three Collinsville girls, Shannon Drigger (sophomore), Kristina Shearer (Senior 2011) and Angel Vaught (Junior) went to Mansfield, Texas December 10-12 to play in a tournament. The fields the girls got to play on were replicas of Major League ball parks, Fenway Park, Yankee Stadium, Wrigley Field, etc., very nice fields. The girls places 3rd in the tournament and played some AWESOME softball. A Coach Burrnet from Independence Community College drove to Mansfield to watch Kristina and another one of her teammates, Keelin Wright from Sand Springs, play ball. Coach Burnet offered both of the girls a scholarship and they both gave her a verbal commitment to play there next fall. Both of the girls will sign their intent next month. We are very proud of all of the girls, but especially of Kristina and Keelin for taking the next step in life. I know that Kristina has worked very hard to get to where she is and she is glad that Shannon and Angel are right there with her. We will keep you updated on how the girls are doing. We go to Missouri next month to play in an indoor tournament.

"Quik" Construction
I hadn't been "out west" for a few weeks and was surprised today to see the new Quik-Trip convenience center/gas station looking half-built at the SE corner of Highways 75 and 20. The business (when opened) is expected to boost city sales tax as well as spur additional businesses to develop along the Highway 20 corridor west of Collinsville in the coming months and years. The city's recent expenditures for a sewer line out to the location were key to securing the development.

2011 CHS Senior Page Status
I've been able to spend most of my "holidays" (Thanksgiving, Christmas and News Years) working on about 160 individual senior pages. Pages for kids involved in many activities are beginning to "fill-in" as my first pass looks for photos that have already been online at cvilleok.com. I've searched 2003-2009 so far and hope to finish 2010 in the next few weeks. The next phase will involve searching all my other archive photos that were not used online. That effort takes months and is done in conjuction with the Photo CD search that starts after Jan. 24th. In the mean time, I need to work on other business (as well as park board and chamber board responsilities). I could use submitted photos from all seniors. The sooner I receive them, the better chance I have to work them into the pages over the next months before the May 1st release. The longer you wait, the less likely I will be able to use them (or as many). -- Ted Wright (wrightted@aol.com) -- Jan. 4, 2010 -- midnight
There is no charge to any senior for their unique pages but I could always use more advertisers to help make this massive effort worth my while financially. Parents/grandparents/aunts/uncles/friends/etc are also welcome to purchase congratulation ads for any/all seniors. Contact Ted Wright (wrightted@aol.com)
