Cardinal Football -- Jr. Hi Update
-- October 26, 2010
The Collinsville 7th, 8th and 9th grade football teams traveled north Monday night for the season finale. The strong south winds, gusting at time over 40 mph propelled the team buses up highway 69 to Mustang Stadium. The Oologah Mustangs 7th, 8th, and 9th grade teams were enjoying a very successful season up to this date. The Cardinals blew into Oologah with this in mind. “It is not what we have done – but what we are about to do!”

The 7th grade defense just plainly “out hit” the Mustangs all night long and pitched another shut out 16-0. The 7th grades finished the 2010 season with a record of 7-1, and are Co-Champs of the 5A Metro-Lakes Conference.

The 8th grade running game was just too much for the Mustangs. The O-Line dominated the L.O.S. Our 8th grade finishes with a fantastic record of 7-1 and is Runner-up in the 5A Metro-Lakes Conference.

Our 9th grade orchestrated another terrific season. They shut out the Mustangs 12-0 and captured the title Co-Champs of the 5A Metro-Lakes Conference. They finish the season with a record of 7-1.

When a season comes to an end, there are so many who you want to say thank you. I appreciate the coaches who spend many hours and great effort to have a successful season. Ben Davis, Steve Sparks, and Brian Phillips have been tremendous. The varsity assistant coaches, Mike McClure, Shawn Tesar, Kurt Boomer, Damon Herald, and Matt Davison, and head coach Kevin Jones have been great teachers on the practice field each day during 4th hour Jr. Hi athletics. They also coach’m up on game night. Our Athletic Director, Jim Riley, and his staff giving our program the guidance and support we need. Our administration, Mr. Terry Due, Mr. Lance West, Mr. Dale Harp, Mrs. Kelly Hamlin, and Mr. Jon Coleman provide support each day and really care about the best interest of kids. And then we have our Quarterback Club which feed our players, and provide equipment for our teams. Our cheerleaders are the “best”. We have a great following of parents and fans to all of our games to support the players. It’s great to be a Cardinal!

So the 2010 season has come to an end. We all have some great memories and I hope are focusing on the 2011 season which will be here before we know it. The kids are going into the winter sports, which I hope we all support, and those that do not will be in the weight room, getting bigger, faster, and stronger for next year. Remember, “Code Red” is for real.

Coach Jones ECC Visit
The boys and girls in Ms. Anderson's and Mrs. Bowers' kindergarten classes were treated by our new head football coach Kevin Jones on Monday September 20th at the Early Childhood Center. Coach Jones visited during "CC" week to talk about what it means to be a Collinsville Cardinal, the meaning of "Code Red", commitment, character and teamwork. Coach Jones gave each of the children a 8x10 colored picture of the team and the kids taught him the ECC Cardinal Creed. A good time was had by all. Thank you Coach Jones for sharing your time with us. GO CARDS!!!!!!

Sincerely,
Mrs. Bowers and Ms. Anderson's Kindergarten Classes (10/26/2010)
