Unoccupied House Fire

This house near 12th and Pearl (which has been unoccupied for several years) was billowing smoke as City Fire crews arrived just before 12:30pm Saturday Feb. 27th, 2010. The cause of the fire was unknown but suspicious as there was no electrical power to the vacant house.
City's "Backup" Trash Truck Arrived
City staff were checking out the features of the recently purchased city trash truck Wed. Feb. 24, 2010. The truck is a bit smaller than the existing truck (20 -vs 25 cubic yards) which will allow the truck to turn around on some collection routes where the bigger truck has had to back several blocks to get out of some dead-ends.
Speaking of Trash ...
I noticed what appeared to be wind-blown newspapers in Center Street and the curb a half-block south of the Library's recycling bins. I took this photo Tuesday and forgot about it until I noticed two residents out cleaning up the mess Saturday morning (Feb. 27th). -- Ted
