Former Resident At Library Sept. 11th With "Spirited Encounters" |
Book by Karen Cooper, aka Korliss Rollins |
Saturday, September 11, we are having a poetry reading and book discussion in the meeting room from 2:00-3:00pm. Karen Cooper, aka Korliss Rollins, a Collinsville native will read her poetry and discuss her book, Spirited Encounters. Cooper said the Collinsville Library contributed to her writing penchant as she was a longtime library customer during her youth. It would be really great if we could have a nice size audience to welcome Korliss back to Collinsville. Since Karen is from
Collinsville it would be nice if you could invite friends who might
know her to join us on Saturday. |
Ted Note: Korliss is a CHS 1965 graduate and daughter of Floyd and Ann Rollins. I don't have an official bio yet but had corresponded with her a few year back when she worked for the Smithsonian in Washington D.C. She is now working inTahlequah. |
House
Damaged By Fire August 26th
|
A "controlled burn" that got out of hand destroyed an older home on Prarie Street between 12th & 13th about noon Thursday August 26th. There were what appeared to be two burning wood piles within about 15 feet of the structure. -- Ted 12:45pm 8/26/2010 |

Horse Parking

I noticed these two horses "parked" behind the Silver Dollar Cafe Wednesday August 25th, 2010 (above). Not really that unusual for Collinsville today or especially not in about 1906 (below) when there was a pump and trough for the horses in town in the middle of the intersection of 11th and Main near the wooden structures then (and now Silver Dollar Cafe). -- Ted |
