Kylee Cole pitching for the Lady Cards, as she has done every game this season.
Grove had a base runner reach as far as third base (after reaching on an error in the 3rd inning) but was left stranded. Emily Varner is guarding the line at 3rd.
Kristina Shearer led off the Cards half of the 2nd inning with a single.
Shannon Driggers led off the Cards portion of the 3rd with a bad hop single. Samantha Smith (#15) took her place on a fielder's choice and then scored from 1st (above) on a Marysa Trost double for the first score of the game.
Marysa Trost scored on a Randi Gilmartin single for the second run of the 3rd inning.
I was zoomed in a bit too much to catch all the action of this pick off attempt with the Grove base runner getting back to 1st base just ahead of the Randi Gilmartin tag in the 4th inning. -- Ted
Shortstop Lacie Cook made this throw across the infield at eye level and on target to Randi Gilmartin for a Grove out in the 4th inning
Lacie Cook (#5) scored in the 4th inning (above) on a Samantha Smith single. Shearer led off with a double off the wall, Driggers reached on an error before Cook doubled them both in.

Note: the CHS softball ladies have only been able to play a few (2?) games in the past 3 weeks due to rain on an almost daily basis. This Grove game was the final scheduled home game of the regular season. They are hoping to host a 5A regional.

Also Note: Coach Cross said the JrHi softball team won their first and then lost at the JrHi Conference tourney so their season is over.
