Million Proposed Improvements Include:
Park Improvements, City Jail, Road Improvements, 19th Street Bridge & Sidewalk, Expanded Downtown Streetscape, and Possibly More. |
Collinsville has had no local jail since the Dec. 1, 2001 City Hall Fire. This photo shows the jail remains in the then (2004) roofless City Hall. |
The
Collinsville Police Department moved what little was left after the Dec. 2001
City Hall Fire into a temporary (mobile home) location before the new office (formerly
the post office) was ready at 11th & Center late in 2003. Collinsville prisioners
have been transported to Owasso or Tulsa for the past 7+ years as the city has
not had funds for a new jail. Vision 2025 (county sales tax) and insurance dollars helped build a new fire station and restore City Hall for administrative offices |
Before the 2001 fire City Hall housed the police and fire departments in addition to the city offices. The police moved into their new office in Nov. 2003. |
The new proposed city jail would be on the west side of the police station and is estimated to cost in the range of $500,000 allocated from the proposed new sales tax to be voted on April 7th, 2009.
