Matt
Young & Oklahoma Legends |
Hi Ted. If you have room on your website, I just want to share the following news. Our son, Matt Young (2nd from right back row), is a member of the Oklahoma Legends, a 13U AA baseball team. They traveled to Colorado Springs last week (7/18-7/25) for a Super Series World Series tournament and were Runner-Up in the Minors Division. They played a total of 8 games there and lost only 2, both of which were to the Broken Arrow Tigers, a AAA team. They played the Broken Arrow Tigers in the Championship game on Friday, July 24th. They were tied 6-6 in the last inning, and the Tigers had last bats. The Tigers hit a homerun on the first pitch to win the Championship 7-6. For the tournament, Matt had a batting average of 429, one hit short of 500, and his on base percentage was .529. The Oklahoma Legends are a competitive baseball team that played league at OBrien in the spring, took 3rd out of 19 teams at USSSA State in June, and is made up of players from towns in the Tulsa area. Matt is the only one from Collinsville. -- Russell and Mary Young (7/30/09) |

Mystery
and Mayhem Come To Collinsville |
Bob Avery will speak to the Comedy of Errors Book Group on August 11 at Noon in the Collinsville Library Meeting Room. |
Local mystery author, Bob Avey, will be speaking and signing books at the Collinsville Public Library, located at 1223 W. Main in Collinsville. Bob will autograph copies of his latest novel, Beneath a Buried House, a haunting mystery that takes place in the Tulsa area. The event will take place on August 11 from 12:00 Noon until 1:00 PM. Please come and enjoy the library as you get to know the author. Beneath a Buried House She
unlocked the door and they stepped into a small landing. The place was grim, and
populated, Llewellyn suspected, by various strata of socioeconomic defeat, and
as they walked the red, carpeted hallway, a red that reminded Llewellyn of blood,
he thought of Dantes Inferno, for as they walked deeper into the building
each successive apartment appeared more steeped in despair. Things arent always what they seem. Tulsa Police Detective, Kenny Elliots quest to uncover the truth behind the death of a transient makes him a target - from whom or what he isnt sure. When he brushes the dirt from the surface of an apparent John Doe overdose case, he finds a labyrinth of misdirection and deception beneath, and a trail which leads him to an encounter with an aberration in human nature, the likes of which hes not prepared to deal with. Kenny
Elliot is back and better than ever. The entertaining and ever twisting plot line
of Beneath a Buried House will leave you biting your fingernails and guessing
right up until the dramatic, unexpected last few pages. I guarantee you wont
be able to put it down. As
a fan of Bob Aveys first book, Twisted Perception, I know I can always count
on him for a few things - a tight, well constructed plot, complex believable characters
and an interesting mystery that plays fair with the reader. Beneath a Buried House
doesnt disappoint. |
