Diamond Dinner Success

On behalf of the officers and trustees of the Collinsville Cardinals Home Run Club I would like to thank everyone who attended our recent Diamond Dinner. There were almost 200 present and the money raised will provide much needed support for the baseball program.

Special thanks goes to the players who helped with setup, the Diamond Divas for serving the food and Mr. Barry Curtius who prepared the food at cost. We appreciate those who donated items to the silent auction and those who placed bids. A big thank-you to Master of Ceremony Chris Lincoln and keynote speaker George Frazier for the great jobs they did.

Many Collinsville baseball supporters helped with the event. There are too many to list, but they know who they are and we want them to know they are appreciated. A very special thank you goes to Tracy Rice for her tireless efforts in planning and coordinating the event. We are grateful to the Collinsville News and cvilleok.com for their help in promoting the event, and to Collinsville Public Schools for the use of facilities.

Well, baseball time is almost here. Scrimmages start in February and the regular season in March. We ask all of you to attend the games and continue your support for Collinsville baseball. We have a great program and a lot to be proud of.

Many thanks,
Danny Chronister
President

Project 1
Progress continues on the new 4-lane Main Street bridge. East Main Street traffic has been diverted to the new Broadway Bridge since Nov. 14, 2007. The new bridge is scheduled to be completed before May 2008 with some restricted 2-lane traffic earlier than that as lanes become available. (Previous Coverage)
The Early Childhood Center (ECC) playground now has the full compliment of equipment installed. Much of the equipment came as the result of PTO numerous fund raisers and corporate sponsors. (Previous Coverage)
Project 2
The oft-delayed phase I of multiple projects to beautify downtown Main Street (with a center turn lane, new narrower sidewalks, underground utilities, plants, benches, new lighting, etc.) has been given yet another go-ahead by the city commission Jan. 17th, 2008 following ice storm recovery delays.

The top view is facing west on Hwy 20 (Broadway) with one of the houses removed from the new S-Surve alignment right-of-way. The bottom photo is facing east a week before with that house still in place at 21st Street. Several other houses are on wheels but remain in the area pending movement to a new location.
