New CHS Head Football Coach Lance West met with the HS football parents Tuesday April 29th. The event was hosted by the Quarterback Club. The coach had previously met with the junior high and HS student athletes. (Previous Coverage)
Terry Due, Louis Keith & Pat Herald inspected the progress (last Friday) as preliminary drainage work for the new field turf at Sallee Field was well under way. According to School Superintendent Herald the drainage work was approximately 2/3rds of the total cost of the turf project.
This series of connectors and pipes will help drain water from under the field to the new recessed gravel area north of the field. (Previous Coverage)

Coach Lance West indicated the primary practice field for the CHS football team would still be at the high school. Some practice sessions would be transported to Sallee Field, especially when wet weather limited other options. Spring practice with pads (10 days max allowed) will begin about May 12th. "Summer Pride" conditioning will be held during June and July 6:30-10:30am.

Coach West will be bringing Coach Kurt Boomer with him from Claremore Sequoyah (& Fort Gibson). Kevin Jones will be the defensive coordinator. Kelly Anderson will be the new special teams coordinator. West was head football coach in Collinsville for the 1996 - 2000 seasons. Rusty Poindexter was CHS head coach from 2001-2003 followed by Bob Craig 2004-2007.

The new field turf should be completed for football scrimmages and games starting in August. I haven't heard yet how summer band might be impacted as their old practice field has been lost and the start of marching in early August/late July could press availability of the new field surface. -- Ted
