Brinkley Howard's Story Honored / Kelsey Hewlett Honored /

Brinkley Howard of Collinsville won 1st place in the kindergarten category of (OETA's) 2007 Oklahoma Reading Rainbow Young Writers and Illustrators Winners Contest. More than 350 Oklahoma young writers and illustrators participated in the first annual contest and received Certificates of Achievement signed by beloved series host Levar Burton. They were also honored recently in Oklahoma City by state officials and dignitaries. Brinkley's story can be viewed on the OETA website.

Hewlett Honored at OU
Kelsey Hewlett has been selected as a recipient of the University of Oklahoma’s prestigious PACE award. PACE recognizes approximately 1% of the students in the freshman class for outstanding achievement in the areas of Participation, Academic achievement, Community service, and Excellence in leadership. Kelsey was recognized in an awards assembly in Meacham Auditorium on the OU campus on March 31st.
She is an OU Regents’ Scholar, and was also chosen for membership in Alpha Lambda Delta, which is a national academic honor society.
Kelsey is a 2006 graduate of Collinsville High School. She is the daughter of Charles and Cheryl Hewlett of Owasso.

Road work at the intersection of 5th and Broadway continues. The view Wednesday (above) almost looked like a 5th Street bridge was needed as the roadway had been removed temporarily leaving just a water filled ditch stopping any traffic to/from the north on 5th. Broadway traffic to/from Main was still flowing. (Previous Coverage).
Gas Prices Down A Bit
Noticed gas at the two Collinsville stations I drove by today (May 31, 2007) was at $3.15 per gallon which is down a bit from the $3.29 posted May 22nd (below).
The building improvements at the 15th and Main Sinclair reflect Mo Bhuiyan's continued investment in Collinsville.
