Janice Coke (left) displayed a quilt she made recently to the quilting group that meets monthly at the Collinsville Library. She was assisted by group president Rosie Vaught (right).
Twelve members of the Collinsville's Library Patchworkers met July 10, and welcomed Wanda Nyberg into the group. Several shared their "Show & Tell," as well as travel news and pictures, with the most distant trip being to Winterset, Iowa that included a visit to the Fons and Porter Quilt Shop. At the Chamber's request, it was voted to sponsor a "quilt show/display" at the Library as part of the Sept. 29 Fall Festival. An appliqué flower basket quilt will be available for a drawing. Janet Martin presented a program on pattern organization, and the fat quarter drawing was won by Ann Cooper. The next meeting will be Aug. 14, 7 PM, and is open anyone with an interest in quilting. -- Submitted by Linda Pfeffer

Photos From Last Year

Gasoline prices have slipped back above $3/gal this week with flood damage at the Coffeyville refinery getting some of the blame for this jump. Prices had been below $3 for several weeks. (Previous coverage at $3.15 May 31)
We have a bumber crop of mosquitos this rainy summer. I did notice a (health department?) truck spraying in downtown Collinsville a few nights ago. I assume the residential areas were also covered. -- Ted
An Oklahoma Natural Gas Co. (ONG) lawyer (Ms. Hale) and VP (Scott Shepherd) attended the special session of the Collinsville City Commission today. The commission set an election (Sept. 11th) for citizens to approve or deny a new 25-year franchise for ONG to provide Collinsville natural gas.
