Bid Opening Oct. 20

The regular monthly School Board Meeting for Collinsville Public Schools, Independent District I-6, was held 7pm Monday Oct. 4, 2004 with the following partial agenda topics (+ others not listed here).

The school board approved a motion to hire Crossroads Commercial Cleaning for a 1-year trial for building custodial work.

The board approved a lease/purchase for copiers at the high school and Herald Elementary with a net cost of less than 1 cent per copy.

The board approved the new plan to be submitted for the Gifted/Talented Program.

The board voted to allow Pat Herald, Craig Creech and Terry Due to accept the low bid and alternate bids for the middle school and high school additions. Those bids will be opened 2pm Oct 20th.

The school board went into executive session to discuss the appraisal of school property on Smelter Hill and North 15th. In open session the board approved Mr. Creech and Due getting clear title and proceeding with an auction for the Smelter Hill property. The board directed they proceed with negotiations with an interested party for the North 15th property.

Mr. Creech reported the installation of the middle school gym bleachers had begun.

Mr. Herald reported with disappointment that the school's application for a 21st Century Community Grant was not approved. Only 15 of 70 applicants received the grants. Mr. Herald reported the school would try again in the future and thanked Rachel Chronister for her efforts on this grant.
