The Cardinal captains appear to be supporting a small cheerleader with their helmets ... but there are actually other cheerleaders supporting her. The cloud display to the North of Sallee (before the game) brought a very light rain for short periods during the second half.

The Collinsville Cards came up on the short side of the 19-23 score board against Miami Friday night. Collinsville scored with 4:31 left in the first quarter on a 54 yard run by quarterback Tyler Whitaker. Miami missed a field goal at 9:18 in the 2nd quarter. The Cards' Ricky Rimpley intercepted a Miami pass at the goal line with 3:31 remaining before half. Collinsville lead 7-0 at the half. Miami kicked a field goal from the 7 at 9:01 in the 3rd.

On the first play of the 4th quarter Miami scored on a 25 yard pass and had the lead at 7-10 lead over the Cards. A few plays later Miami picked off a Collinsville pass and started on offense from the Cards 30 yard line. A 21 yard TD run by the Miami quarterback gave them a 7-17 lead with 10:12 left in the game. With 6:16 on the clock and the ball on the Cards 19, Justin Scott ran for an 81 yard touchdown. The PAT kick missed and the Cards trailed by 4 at 13-17 with 6 minutes remaining. A Miami punt and a penalty left the Cards at their own 5 with 2:48. Collinsville picked up one first down on a hook & ladder play. They were then back to their 5 after a sack. On 4th and 20, the Cards pass was long and Miami took over on downs at the 5 with 43.5 seconds left in the game.

Miami took 3 plays to score with 23.7 remaining. Miami's missed PAT left the score at 13-23 in their favor. A short Miami kickoff left the Cards at their own 45 with 21.7 seconds left. The Cards used a Whitaker-Rimpley-Yeager pass play to get to the Miami 30 yard line with only 14 seconds remaining. Tyler Whitaker then passed 28 yards to Ricky Rimpley at the two yard line and he backed into the endzone with 8.4 seconds left. Collinsville's 2 point pass attempt failed and the score was 19-23. Miami recovered the Cards' onside kick and ran out the clock for the win.

Ricky Rimpley (left) out jumped the defender for the pass from Whitaker and backed into the endzone for Collinsville's final touchdown with 8.4 seconds before the game ended.

The band continues to add new visual effects to their show. They travel to St. Louis in 2 weeks for BOA. marching competition.
