According to a radio advertisement heard this week, Scooters in Collinsville is closing out their entire stock of merchandise.
I have not had a chance to confirm or get further information from owner Mike Lames due to the Thanksgiving holiday. The radio spot indicated that Greybeards would continue in business. -- Ted -- Nov 28 -- 1:30am ..... (check back later)-->
The former Morrison building shown standing all alone in a 1948 photo (above) has had several business occupants over the years. It is the current location of Scooters. In 1948 it was the Farmers Union Cooperative. I recall it being a feed store for many years also.
The building facade (and the adjoining add-on) were updated about a year ago to move towards the concept drawn by the then Oklahoma Main Street Architect (Todd Scott).
Friday Nov 28 update (10:15am) : Caught Mike already busy at the register with his only comment being "Scooters is going out of business" and "Greybeards is staying put". Signs posted in the windows indicated Dec 31st as the last day of business for Scooters. -- Ted
