After being in executive
session for over two hours, the City Commission (or were they just CMA trustees?)
returned to open session. They made no motion or formal action, but announced
that a joint session would be held Tuesday before action would result. There
had apparently been some confusion about which agenda the City Manager's contract
could be acted upon under. The next session will be a joint session of the
City Commission and the Municipal Authority Trustees.

In
a followup session Tuesday afternoon Dec.9th, a joint session of the CMA &
City Commission voted to approve a new contract for
City Manager Mike Tinker. In the absense of Mayor Sirmon, Vice Mayor
Stan Sallee conducted the meeting. The commissioners & trustees decided
there was no need for additional executive session discussion. After a brief
open session discussion (which indicates there was a change in the base salary,
and clarification on auto insurance and sick days) votes were taken from the
CMA trustees (all voting in favor: Brad Overholt, Pam Porter, Gail Rogers &
Stan Sallee). On the City Commission side all voted in favor: Overholt, Porter,
Rogers with Sallee unable to vote as he was the acting mayor. The contract is
effective Dec 10, 2003 to June 30, 2004 and renewable for one year periods thereafter.
