JoAnn Vickers Wilburn   joannvickers@cox.net

My name is JoAnn Vickers (now Wilburn) and I am an author, actor and singer/songwriter who lived in the Collinsville area during most of my school years, and graduated from Collinsville High (1962). During the last ten years, in Nashville, I have made my living as an actor, a singer, a radio announcer/emcee, an acting teacher, and also as a public speaker, giving workshop style presentations in the public schools for improving self-image.
Now, I am living in Branson Missouri, and have recently written and recorded a dramatic audio book, which has just been released by Ladybug Press.  Winds of Change is an interweaving of stories and songs, which deal with a relationship as it moves through changes -- from a fairy tale beginning through the nightmare of abuse and betrayal to a new understanding and a new beginning.    Each story is followed by a song, which adds to and reinforces its main idea.  These original songs were recorded in Nashville, produced by Dan Wilburn, a producer with gold and platinum record credits.  Ladybug Press donates a portion of sales to a charity of the author’s choice.  I have chosen the “Rape and Sexual Abuse Center.” This book deals with a real situation that clearly shows the how and why behind the main character’s wrong decisions, and could possibly provide the listener with the insight needed to make a better life choice.
If anyone at Collinsville High would be interested in having me come in to talk about the book, either from the viewpoint of content, or the process of writing and recording it, I would be happy to do so. Or, if you would like to do a local interest or feature story for a school newsletter or other publication about the release of this book written by a graduate of Collinsville High, I would be happy to help in any way.
For more information visit the Ladybug Press website: http://www.ladybugbooks.com/ and/or the author’s website: http://www.joannvickers.com.  View the press release at: http://www.joannvickers.com/jv_press_frame.htm  To speak to someone directly and for interviews or review copies of the book contact Ladybug Press 1-888-892-5000 or email Irma Hudson  --  irmah@ladybugbooks.com  Feel free to call me directly at (417) 230-4539 or email me at joannvickers@cox.net

Sincerely,

JoAnn Vickers Wilburn  (417) 230-4539 joannvickers@cox.net http://www.joannvickers.com

This is Bonnie Phillips, with update info on Jimmy Phillips, class of 62.

Jimmy (Goob) Phillips died on New Years eve, 2019, after a long battle with many health issues. He died peacefully at his Collinsville home, with wife Bonnie and daughter Angela holding his hands. Jim had lived his most recent years, almost 15 of them, as a Colorado resident, much of that in Lake City, Colorado, and that is where he wished to be buried. Due to weather conditions, interment of his ashes has been delayed multiple times, as Lake City had a horrific winter with over 200 feet avalanches and later serious threats of flood due to snow melt.

The family decided to wait until fall to have his memorial; it was his favorite time of year. So the memorial will be held at the First Baptist Church Fellowship Hall in Lake City Colorado, on Saturday, September 14, 2019, at 10:00 a.m., with interment following at the Hinsdale 100F cemetery. Lake City is very beautiful at that time of the year, and any classmates or friends who would like to attend are welcome. Travelers should be aware that lodging may not be plentiful due to fall-color enthusiasts, so advance reservations would be wise.

Cards are also welcome, address is Bonnie Phillips, PO Box 233, Lake City, CO, 81235. Anyone wishing to donate flowers may wish to order live plants that are “deer un-friendly,” as the family is planting a memorial garden. Gunnison, CO would be the nearest florists.
