We are an active part of the communities we serve because they are the places we call home. The members we serve live, work and play in the lush rolling hills of northeastern Oklahoma.
Headquartered in Collinsville, Oklahoma, VVEC is a distribution electric cooperative. We provide electric service to residential, commercial and industrial consumers through more than 32,000 meters and more than 4,500 miles of electric line in portions of Nowata, Osage, Rogers, Tulsa and Washington counties.
Among
the 26 electric cooperatives operating in Oklahoma, VVEC is the third largest
based on the number of meters served by the co-op. Ninety-two employees cover
the Cooperatives more than 3,200-square mile service territory daily maintaining
the electric system and providing consumer-oriented service.

PUBLIC NOTICE OF THE
MEETING OF THE
COLLINSVILLE PARK BOARD

3. Roll Call:

Rusty Poindexter -- Absent
4. Discussion and possible action to put fence around splash pad. --
The 3 park board members present voted not to pursue this request
(from Commissioner Pam Porter who was not present) which was apparently
for safety concerns for toddlers that might wander. The discussion centered
on fencing not clearly solving the potential problem which is primarily
the parent's responsibility .. but also introducing other logistic, safety,
vandalism and cost concerns. A preliminary estimate for a 4 foot fence (&
gates) just around the splash pad was $6000. That did not extend to the
other play areas nearby.
5. Discussion
and possible action to put shade features over playground equipment. --
this item was tabled (after discussion) for additional information.
City staff had provided information on two sample fabric covering structures
with at least $12,000 in cost each. Some of the discussion topics included
removable covering for the cooler months of the year; lifespan of materials;
replacement cost of materials; wanting quotes from local companies; the
fact that the new trees from last year's construction project will need
years to grow enough to contribute shade to the playground equipment. This
topic was suggested by Commissioner Dee Sink following an earlier concern
raised by Commissioner Pam Porter regarding how hot the play ground equipment
was getting in the summer heat. City staff also pointed out that bedrock
(sandstone just under a thin layer of dirt) in this area would likely increase
cost of any solution reguiring digging holes.
Additional Ted Note (which I did not realize until studying photos
after the meeting): that the two new playground areas are far enough apart
that two shade structures (or a very large structure) would be required
to cover both.
6. New Business -- none ... but the board is hoping to set a more regular meeting schedule ... likely the 2nd Tuesday each month (4:30pm) with July 12th being next planned meeting.
7. Adjournment
Notice
and agenda filed in the office of the City Clerk and posted at City Hall
at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday June 28, 2011.
