didn't receive an electronic agenda and don't have time to re-type -- Ted (Sat.
5/3/2009) -- I did receive a text version Monday morning but will stick with the
photo to save time and just list agenda item numbers with the results below: Wendell
Johnson, Steve Stout and Joe Hampton were present with Donna Sears and Memory
Ostrander absent. All
items were approved. (Note I was at the city meet during the first 6 items). Item
11 (H1N1 Flu Plan): Information was posted on the school
web site and letters sent to parents (dated May 1st). The information indicates
the school (& other health agencies) will monitor the situation closely and
take appropriate actions which could include closing schools if deemed necessary.
The Tulsa Health Department link was also referenced: www.tulsa-health.org Item
12: "Slight/minor" wording revisions in several school policies to match
legislative changes in past year. No significant change to any existing policies. Item
14. Jamie Pahukoa was hired to fill a teaching vacancy at Herald. But it was noted
that not all vacancies (from previous resignations) are being filled at this point
due to budget uncertanties. Item
16. Memorial Day (May 25) was clarified as a non-attendance day as had been discussed
earlier but not listed on the official calendar. Terry
Due's Report: * "A bit behind" on exterior brick at both CHS
& Herald classroom additions due to wet weather. * Tile work started May
4th at CHS and will move to Herald after CHS completion. * Electrical rough-in
completed at both sites. * Canopy work also slowed by high winds. * Track
bleachers delayed ... only one hole dug so far with wet weather. (Note: the stands
at the recent home meet were temporary). Restrooms and concession stands are not
in the current track facility budgets but will use the baseball facilities in
the meantime. Pat
Herald's Report: * City (Pam Polk/Stan Sallee) have requested school support
in the range of $7000-$7500 to supplement city/vision funds (~$14K) planned to
resurface the tennis courts in city park which have been un-playable for about
2 years. The school money would be in the form of a lease payment which is allowed
for school use on non-school-owned property. * $685K Federal "Stimulus"
money anticipated (half soon and the other half in Sept) ... but still many unknowns
... "muddy situation" with many unclear restrictions on how the money
can be spent while being asked to spend the money in a hurry. Pat cited asking
for a simple yes or no on how certain money could be spent and getting a 66-page
explanation instead. Pat indicated the Collinsville school will proceed cautiously
and asked for patience as there will most likely be immediate needs for funds
in some areas but restrictions preventing using these "stimulus" funds
there (including salaries). A $100K special needs bus is one item under consideration.
Announcements: *
5A Track Regional location will be Ponca City (with State at Moore). * Collinsville's
first 5A baseball regional is threatened by the continued rain. Tuesday games
already postponed to Wednesday. If still too wet, might move 1st round of play
to Pryor. Sunday games also not out of question if needed to finish this week. *
CHS 2009 graduation May 19th at Claremore Expo. Looking at different site for
future years .. possibly in Tulsa. *
Middle School National Junior Honor Society built a memorial area in their court
yard for their former classmate MacKenzie Sunday. New
Business : * No action taken but Lance West reported on the previous night's
meeting of a group making recommendations to the board for future school facility
use policies and fees (for non-school activities such as little leagues &
other individuals & organizations) which could go into effect as early as
July 1st.
