Sarah Green: State Video Winner
As promised, here is the picture from Tuesday's SkillsUSA state competition awards ceremony with Jordan (my teammate) and me taking First place.
--Sarah Green (5/8/2009)
Hello Mr. Wright, This is Sarah Green. I'm super-excited to tell you that I have won first place in state and am going to Nationals in June. I competed in the Video Product Development competition in SkillsUSA (a student organization) on Monday. My assignment was to make a 5-7 minute documentary about a certain class, a highlight video of a technology campus, or a highlight film over the entire SkillsUSA organization. My film was a 5 minute 40 second video about my class, TV Production, at Tulsa Tech Riverside campus. I plan to get pictures from my teacher this week, and when I get them, I will send you one, if that's okay.
Thanks for all you do! -- Sarah Green [p.s. The senior pages are _AMAZING_! Thank you!] 5/6/2009

More Main Street Asphalt
ODOT crews were rearranging traffic cones while finishing a new ashalt overlay on Main Street east of the railroad tracks to 5th Street Thursday. They had completed the west end of Main (from the tracks to 17th Street) before almost 2 weeks of recent rain. (Previous Coverage)
Slowed Hummer?
Carolyn Fugate got a call from Lynne Kincaid (at Essemtial Kneads, 916 W. Main) Wednesday that some kids had found a hummingbird on the Main Street sidewalk that was not flying. They brought it inside and set in on the edge of some sugar water but it did not respond until Carolyn placed the liquid on her finger and hand-fed the bird. There were no obvious injuries so it was not clear why the normally high speed wings of the tiny bird were at rest. -- Ted
American Legion Roof
Needs Immediate Repair
Susan Babbitt (left) hands a check to Vern Norrid for half the proceeds from the WWAH garage sale held May 1-2 in the Collinsville American Legion building. The check for over $800 will make just a dent in the amount needed to repair the Legion building and interior damage. Norrid (right) is Commander of American Legion Post 2. In the center of the photo are Don Gaines (Legion finance officer) and Marie Gillespie (unit president). Babbitt has challanged other city organizations and individuals to also help the American Legion restore the building.
