FIRST TIME HOME BUYERS RECEIVE TAX BREAK FROM GOVERNMENT
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

TULSA, OK - July 22, 2009 - Although many people have heard about the $8,000 housing tax credit the government is offering to first time home buyers, many people have yet to take advantage of it. That’s a fact most local realtors and mortgage companies are hoping to change as they try to help Oklahomans take advantage of the available $8,000 credit.

In fact, one local mortgage company, Currington Mortgage, is using everything from simple flyers to high profile ads to make people aware of the unprecedented tax break offer available for purchasing a first home.

“We’re doing everything we can think of just to make people aware of this free money,” said Steve Currington, Mortgage Banker at Currington Mortgage. “I think people are a little uncertain of this credit because they think there may be strings attached, but once they understand this is money they don’t have to pay back…buying that first house starts making a lot more sense.”

Collinsville newlyweds, Dustin and Mia Nuttle, couldn’t agree more. When they first got married, they planned on waiting a few years before purchasing their first home. But, all that changed when they heard about the $8,000 they could get for buying a house this year.

“We just couldn’t pass it up,” said Mia Nuttle, a recent Currington Mortgage customer. We’d only been married eleven months, when a co-worker told us about the tax credit and introduced us to Steve. With Steve as our mortgage banker, the process was seamless. We amended our 2008 tax return after buying our house and received a check for $8,000 in the mail. Now, all our friends and family want to know how we did it!”

Congress enacted the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 to give a tax credit of up to $8,000 for qualified first-time home buyers purchasing a principal residence on or after January 1, 2009 and before December 1, 2009. The law defines “first-time home buyer” as a buyer who has not owned a principal residence during the three-year period prior to the purchase.

Most housing experts agree that the new tax incentive combined with low interest rates is an effective method for bolstering recent lackluster home sales, provided enough people take advantage of it.

“We’re definitely pleased we went ahead and purchased our first home,” said Mia Nuttle. “I don’t really understand why more people haven’t grabbed onto this tremendous opportunity. Up to $8,000 for buying a home is pretty incredible. And, when you have a mortgage loan expert like Steve to help you through the process…you really can’t go wrong.”

Owned and operated by mortgage banker Steve Currington, Currington Mortgage is a licensed mortgage bank in Oklahoma offering conventional, FHA, VA and USDA loans. Currington Mortgage uses only local underwriters and can guarantee a fast, no hassle 21 day closing.
