Collinsvile City Fire Fighters were prepared for the worst and started running hose immediately as they arrived.
Brandon Rake (& Butch Cribbet) try to determine the source of the smoke coming out of the facade of the east portion of Silver Dollar Cafe Saturday afternoon.
Firefighters removed exterior wooden panels until they finally located the source of the smoke.
These two views (of the same photo) show the tiny amout of flame (and smoke) which was burning outside the building bricks.
There did not appear to be any interior damage (other than a little smoke). A firefighter used a heat measuring device attempting to locate the fire source from inside also.
A 1950's view of the American Exchange Bank at the same location as the current day east half of Silver Dollar Cafe. The bank exterior was a smooth stone facing. Lee & Burnside Hardware was in the west half of what is now Silver Dollar.
The American Exchange Bank moved to a new building (now RCB Bank) in ~1970. (King) Tut Uncommon Treasures opened in 1991 with the stone removed before artist Diane Woodruff's rennovation. The 1996 photo above shows the Silver Dollar Cafe shortly after it opened.
One of the most visible reminders of the American Exchange Bank (the tile floor entry from the bank door) was removed when new sidewalks were prepared during this summer's streetscape project.
