A tentative long term plan of the City is to eventually aquire the remaining properties on that block (between Main & Broadway & 12th & 13th) for a "Civic Center Superblock". That concept is just one of many that could be discussed at the Comprehensive Plan 2030 public hearing to be held Feb. 16th (7pm at City Hall). Plan documents are available for review at City Hall and the Library before that meeting. It is a thick document that has been in preparation for years with an assist from INCOG and a local steering committee. A few other sample topics covered in the document (yet to be approved by the city commission) are:

  • general goals of land use planning
  • growth & development
  • transportation & roadways (including bikepaths & trails)
  • economic development
  • parks & recreation
  • central business district
  • hazard mitigation
  • public utilities

The documents also includes demographic data and maps useful for planning inside the Collinsville fenceline. (Previous Coverage)
