Holes were drilled for new light pole bases Wednesday & Thursday.
Several section of the old sidewalks were removed Wednesday and even more Thursday for new water lines/meters and electrical lines.
Rebar is placed in the hole for the light pole bases.
City & Landplan officials were out checking the progress Thursday (March 20th) with work being done by city workers and multiple subcontractors.
There was maze of warning tape over the open trenches on the NW corner of 11th and Main at mid-day Thursday but there are other area with less warning as I write this Thursday evening, so please be careful as you enter Main Street businesses. Most of the open trenches are on the north side of Main between 11th & 12th, but there is work being done in all 4 sections of the project area between 10th & 12th on both sides of Main.
Concrete was poured to support the light pole base bolts while other utility areas remain open.
Note that the light pole wiring will be under the sidewalk unlike the overhead wiring we have today. The sidewalks will be much narrower to create the center turn lane so the lights will be closer to the building fronts.

I don't know if the work in the alley blocking the Post Office drop off mail boxes (mid-day Thursday) is related to the beautification project. -- Ted
