The Royals would like to thank their sponsors Premier Auto Outlet and All Weathers Electric, the coaches, and of course all of their FANS!!! The boys worked very hard through out the season and got a big payoff in the end. Other tournaments: 2nd Glenpool State Qualifier, 2nd Glenpool Super NIT Road to Disney, and 2nd Claremore tournament. Good luck to the Royals at the Little League World Series.

Dead End Broadway For Now

Ted,
I was wondering if you knew any information about the future use of the East end of Broadway. I know the CherokeeNation had helped with the re-building of the bridge prior to it being put back into use while main street was being updated. The reason I am asking is that I have noticed that it apprears that the edge of the street and sidewalk that would open up for the public use of Broadway covers the previous turn-off. If you have any info, I and some other citizens would appreciate it. Thanks. KL (6/29/2008)

Broadway will eventually run in front of Kent's car lot and connect to the old 169 east of Kent's. There will be no other direct connect to Main. No Broadway work will occur before fall or spring and that is still iffy with county crews tied up with fairgrounds and Arabian Horse show prep for months. I had taken a few photos Friday but have not had a chance to get a Broadway followup online yet.-- Ted Wright (6/29/2008)

Thank you for all of your hard work. You are very valuable to this community, and are very appreciated. Thanks for answering my question. --Kim

I haven't checked in the past week since this photo was taken on the north side of the new Main Street pavement, but suspect there is now a sidewalk where the temporary connection from Broadway had been from Nov. 14 to June 6th. (Previous Coverage)

Modernizing Veterans Education Benefits

America’s veterans are national heroes who deserve our utmost gratitude and respect. Modernizing the Montgomery GI Bill to provide veterans with the best education benefits possible is an important way that we can thank them for their service.

Recently, I voted in favor of an amendment to the Iraq/Afghanistan Supplemental bill which will modernize the Montgomery GI Bill and give veterans more flexibility with their education benefits. By allowing service members to transfer their GI bill benefits to their children or spouse, this legislation acknowledges not only our nation’s military, but also their families for the tremendous sacrifice they make.

As always, my thoughts and prayers continue to be with all members of our nation’s military as they serve their tours of duty in Iraq and Afghanistan. I know all Oklahomans are very proud of these hard working men and women and are thankful for the sacrifices both they and their families make on a daily basis to defend our freedom in the Global War on Terror. I wish all Oklahomans serving in the military a successful mission and a safe return home.
