Sallee Field's New Turf Progressing
This Thursday (July 3rd) view from the south end zone shows all of the main sections of new turf in place and sewn together ... just since Tuesday. The side pieces, numbers, and hash marks remain to be placed and sewn into place. The sand and rubber filler will follow after that.
The edges (at the football sideline) are being weighted down now to prevent any wind movement until the final edge pieces are connected.
Oklahoma Aquarium Re-Visited
Check back later for more photos ... but wanted to use these views from the isolation building at the Oklahoma Aquarium in Jenks as a placeholder for a page in progress. Mike Tinker (former Collinsville City Manager) gave my daughter (Emily a former aquarium intern), her friend (Tyler from Australia) and I, a behind-the-scenes tour Monday. If you haven't visited recently, you will see several new excellent attractions in the main aquarium building. -- Ted
I'm not sure what type of material will eventually be in these landscape areas of the new streetscape downtown but most were cleared out this week preparing for continued work. (Previous Coverage)
An unexpected trip to Elk City, OK, last week gave me a chance to see an electric generating wind turbine farm near Weatherford (on I-40). The scale of each unit and the number of units was impressive. With the fossil fuel crisis we are all facing, maybe someone can take advantage of the winds we have here in Collinsville? -- Ted
