Just a few months ago holding any event in the Collinsville City Park seemed only a remote possibility with limbs and downed trees from the Dec. 2007 ice storm still covering the entire park. Thursday July 3rd there were two big events held there. The Chamber of Commerce hosted city & county members at noon and later that evening the entire community was invited to an early Independence Day celebration. That ice storm (about seven months ago) has dominated the work of many of the honored city and county worker. They were also thanked for their efforts on the other on-going improvements in town including the new East Gateway Main Street bridge / 4-lane pavement and the streetscape project downtown. |
