Ice Storm Revisited? -- Strong winds today (Jan. 4th) nearly took down this first pole (now held up by a utility truck) and put added strain on the next pole. Both poles were likely weakened by the Dec. 9-10, 2007 ice storm. Power was interrepted in the area for a brief time Friday. The poles are near 10th & Center.
Homes and building in the right-of-way for the new S-Curve alignment will be removed started Wednesday Jan. 9th. Beams are on site now to begin the process of putting these homes (west of the curve) up on wheels for a trip down the road.
New Book By Former Resident
Of course, Korliss Rollins is how people in Collinsville might know me, but after marriage I became Karen Cooper and have adopted my grandmother's maiden name as part of my pen name. My book, Spirited Encounters, about
American Indian protests of museums, has just been released by Alta Mira Press. Also, I have just retired from the National Museum of the American
Indian and moved to Tahlequah. Maybe you can announce this on your news web site. Thanks, and Happy New Year!
