The East Gateway into Collinsville expanded to 4 lanes in 2008 after months of traffic diverted to Broadway.
The Main Street bridge over Blackjack Creek was closed from Nov. 14, 2007 to June 6, 2008.
Collinsville yards were piled high with broken trees and limbs for months following the Dec. 2007 ice storm.
2008 saw record high gas prices followed by record lows.
Two blocks of Historic Downtown Main Street was transformed by a streetscape overhaul.
Vintage light fixtures were part of the new downtown streetscape.
Hundreds of Collinsville volunteers helped move over 500 loads of brush to the city collection site north of town just over a month after the devestating ice storm.
The huge pile of the collected ice storm damaged limbs was burned.
Sallee Field dirt & grass was replaced with an all weather turf in 2008.
Collinsville Downtown, Inc. began a major rennovation of the City Annex Building.
Work on the new 4-lane Main Street bridge.
Two lanes opened June 6th and all fours lanes were open by July 21, 2008.
Another outstanding group of students completed their CHS studies in 2008.
Several houses were removed from the future path of the S-Curve re-alignment.
4 lanes of asphalt connected 5th & Main to Hwy 169 when the new bridge was completed.
Ward-Wiseman Animal Haven opened in Jan. 2008
The Victory Cherokee Organization's community center opened in Oct. 2008

Downtown Halloween celebration
There were obviously many more key events that occured in Collinsville during 2008 but these photos will hopefully present the flavor for another year of dramatic changes. I'll have a more detailed list of links in the next day or so to help reflect further on the year. -- Ted Wright 12/26/2008
