Home Representative Club
Collinsville's Home Representative Club convened at the rural home of Marsha Nachtigall Sept. 18, to begin their new year of programs and efforts to further education, as well as contribute to worthy causes. Yearbooks for the coming months were distributed, listing members and the committees and/or programs for which they would be responsible. The official Call to the GFWC NE District Fall Convention was read, which will be held Sept. 22 in Nowata. Club members voted to take orders for items from the Current Catalog as the first fundraiser of the year. Orders will be accepted immediately from family and friends and continue for the next two weeks.
International awareness was the theme of the day, as hostess Marsha displayed pictures from her summer trip to Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. She served apple strudel for dessert, accompanied by napkins from Germany. Linda Vickers gave a program on her Spring trip to China and Thailand, sharing stories, photos, and insights from her travels. A Chinese doll, bookmark, and purse were keepsakes that three lucky members received from a special drawing of names.
Members in attendance also included Carolyn Brinkley, Helen Murphy, Susan Babbitt, EvaJo Sheehan, Kitty Thomas, Dee Fildes, Bobbie Loveless, Pat Anderson, Linda Pfeffer, Rusti Howard, Alberta Bonebrake, Margaret Waldorf, and guests Gerry Turk and Brinkley Howard.
The new Broadway Bridge is nearing completion with Tulsa County workers continuing with the finishing touches on the side structures. (Previous Coverage)
