Chief Chad Smith
Buel Anglen
Dr. Bradley Cobb
Bill Johnson
Cherokee Principal Chief Chad Smith and two District 8 tribal council candidates made a campaign stop in Collinsville Tuesday May 8, 2007. The event was hosted by Joe Landon and George Sallee at the American Bank of Oklahoma. After hambugers, hot dogs, chips and cookies the candidates and potential voters moved inside for speeches. A continuation of the partnership with Collinsville and other Cherokee Nation communities was pledged. A "team" with a common vision of improving happiness and health and investing for the future for Cherokee Citizens requested re-election June 23rd. Chief Smith and Councilman Buel Anglen are incumbants. Dr. Bradley Cobb is running for the District 8 seat that has been held by Bill Johnson the past few years.

The "Drought" Is Definitely Broken!
I suspect the water had been even higher on Black Jack Creek before I took the photo above Tuesday afternoon following the heaviest rain this weekend. But the Caney River (photos below) was still rising yesterday (Wednesday at 28.9 feet) while I was working on this page. We've had some rain almost every day for what seems like weeks now. -- Ted Wright
The unfinished Broadway bridge is being "tested' by the Black Jack Creek. I understand Tulsa County crews had been pulled from the Collinsville project for work in Owasso recently delaying the local bridge completion.
The Caney River is still far below the local bridges on the "new" Highway 169 despite being a few feet over flood stage this week.
The high waters were more visible under the "old" Highway 169 bridge but still well below the bridge Tuesday May 8th, 2007 with the level at approximately 28 feet (26 feet being considered flood stage).
Caney River above flood stage of 26 feet (27.73ft at 11am) (28.34ft at 7pm) -- May 8th -- That Corp of Engineer's link (with raw unconfirmed data) is always available on the "About Us" page of cvilleok.com (at 28.90ft 2pm May 9th)
Many members of the CHS Class of 1997 will participate in the Baccalaureate services Sunday 13th (2pm at the CHS gym) conducted by the Collinsville Ministerial Alliance. The seniors are shown here Wednesday in a brief practice for the event. The Graduation ceremony will be Tuesday May 15th at the Claremore Expo Center.

The rubberized coating on the CHS track was applied during breaks in the rain last week. The final (red) coating will be sprayed on soon on a dry calm day. (Previous Coverage: photo & status)
