What do I do if my trash is missed or I forget to put my cart out?

Leave your cart out for the next pick-up day; contact City Hall so they can put you on a list. The city will then contact Waste Connections for the next collection day.

What is Automated Collection?

Automated garbage collection uses a type of container that can be emptied by automated equipment, making the process faster, efficient, and much safer. Each household is furnished with a special container, which the citizen rolls to curbside on garbage collection day or the night before trash day. The garbage vehicle is equipped with a lifting mechanism that reaches out to the container placed at its proper location with the opening facing the street, lifts and empties the contents, and returns the container to its original position.

What size container is available, and what is my monthly charge?

Residential Poly Cart $10.95

Residential Extra Poly Cart $5.00 plus the charge of the first poly cart

Commercial Rates

These commercial prices are for once per week pick-up; prices will not be the same if you have more than once a week pick-up. Commercial businesses may be picked up 1 to 5 times weekly.

Does Waste Connections provide a roll off service?

Yes. Waste Connections has an exclusive contract to provide all refuse pick up for the City of Collinsville. If you need roll off service, contact Waste Connections at (888) 524-4973.

What if I need a smaller, larger, or additional container?

To request an exchange of a container please contact City Hall at 371-1010.

If you would like to request an additional poly-cart please contact Collinsville City Hall at 371-1010. When requesting an additional poly cart it will be for a minimum of 6 months.

Weekly Pick-up

When do I set my trash out?

Set your trash out the night before your scheduled pick-up to ensure collection. Crews begin at 6 A.M. and collection times may vary. Waste will be collected one side of the street at a time, if the vehicle passes your house, it will be back.

Where do I place my cart for pick-up?

Place cart with opening facing the street and the handle toward your house. Place 5 feet from obstructions (vehicles, mailboxes, etc.) Cart must be within 3 feet of the curb. If you have more than one cart they need to be at least 3 feet apart. Maximum 3 bags of leaves should be 3 feet from carts.

Use only carts provided; trash set out in any other container will not be collected. Additional carts are available by contacting City Hall.

What kinds of trash do I put in my cart and what is prohibited?

Carts are for general household waste only. Items such as dirt, rock, brick and lumber are not allowed on regular pick-up days. Hazardous materials will not be picked up.

Trash placed outside of the cart will not be collected except for the maximum 3 bags of leaves.
