The CHS boys celebrated their win over Oklahoma City Northeast Saturday (at Glenpool) which earned them a trip next week to the
4A Area Basketball Tournament in Choctaw.
David Chester attracted a crowd of Northeast defenders under the offensive basket but still put in 21 points for the Cardinals Saturday afternoon.
Game Winning Shot -- Kyle Lee Smith sank this 3-pointer with about 3 seconds left on the clock to give Collinsville a 56-54 win. The clock ran out before Northwest could attempt a final shot.
In the 1st half four Northeast players would confer with their coach while the fifth attempted freethrows.
This was Northeast's final shot which regained the lead for them with ~30 seconds left in the game at 53-54.
The Collinsville boys never gave up after falling behind 0-10 in the 1st quarter and took their first lead at 43-42 at 6:09 in the 4th quarter. The lead changed 4 times after that. The game was tied 47-47 for several minutes while Tyler Chronister (@2:56) and David Chester (@2:17) both picked up their 4th fouls. They both stayed in the game and took a 48-47 lead at 1:54. Collinsville took another lead at 51-50 on a Kevin Phillips 3-pointer at 1:21. David Chester put the Cardinals up again at 53-52 and 58 seconds left.
Adam Harrell scored the first points for the Cardinals with this 3-pointer with only 3:05 left in the 1st quarter. David Chester made a basket and free throw with 12 seconds left in the 1st quarter to close to 6-12.
With Northeast not contesting early free throw rebounds, Thomas Isam and Chance Riley had to decide who would take this rebound.

To reach the consolation finals today the CHS boys beat Purcell 53-33 Friday (Feb. 23rd) to stay alive in the Regional Basketball bracket at Glenpool. Kevin Phillips was the leading scorer in the Purcell game. Collinsville lost to Wagoner in the opening regional round.
