There was just a touch of sunlight left when the Collinsville -vs- Ft. Gibson game started just before 7pm Thursday which Mariah McElroy started with a leadoff walk.
Kylie Cole pitched for the Lady Cards against Ft. Gibson Thursday.
Kaycee Donelson started the 2nd inning with a double but was forced out at the plate (above) after the Cardinals has the bases loaded with 1 out.
Rough night behind the plate -- Amanda Bolien shook off foul tips rattling her mask and body several times against Ft. Gibson and came up with the biggest clutch hits for the Collinsville win. In the 5th inning and trailing 0-1 Amanda hit a triple against a Ft. Gibson defense with all the outfielders pulled in on the dirt and scored Mariah McElroy from 1st base to tie at 1-1. In the 7th inning (trailing 1-2) Amanda followed a Linsey Curtis single, a Jordan Perkins single and a 2-out Mariah McElroy walk with a 3-run single that landed just inside the right field line.
Mariah McElroy tagged out this Ft. Gibson runner with a throw from Amanda Bolien in the 2nd inning. In the 3rd inning the Cards had a Ft. Gibson base runner caught in a run down with 2 outs but she escaped and later scored their first run. Ft. Gibson took a 1-2 lead in the 6th when a 2-out fly ball dropped between 2 converging fielders.
Collinsville had the bases loaded (with 1 out) in the 2nd inning and couldn't score. Collinsville had the bases loaded (with 1 out) again in the 5th inning and again no score but on a disputed call at first to end the inning. Collinsville loaded the bases again in the 7th (this time 2 outs) and Amanda Bolien helped the Card's cash in for 3 runs and the 4-2 win. The photo at left shows Mariah McElroy scoring the final run.
