This (non-city) trash truck burned about 9:30pm Monday Sept. 11, 2006, in a fenced lot a few blocks south of 5th & Main in Collinsville. Collinsville City Fire responded and were on scene about 2 hours. The photo below shows the remains the next day.
Kaitlyn Wallis gave a presentaion at the Victory Cherokee Organization (VCO) Sept. 12th meeting about her 2006 summer trip to the Cherokee Homeland.
Kaitlyn traveled with other Collinsville students Majestic Ashlock, Kimberly O'Banion, Jared Crowder as well as her Mom Kathy Sampley and Mary Burr. The June 4th-17th trip took the group (including other Oklahoma Cherokee youth and sponsors) to locations in Tennessee, Georgia, and North Carolina where they learned more of their heritage. (Last Year)
Buel Anglen (District 8 Cherokee Councilman) gave the Collinsville VCO a status report from the Sept. 11th Cherokee Council meeting in Tahlequah. He indicated the certification for the initiative petition on the freedman issue vote was likely within a week which could lead to a vote as early as January 2007. Buel also reported on the redistricting which will likely split the current District 8 which includes both Washington and Tulsa Counties at the county line. Buel speculated the current redistricting plan would likely not pass as the populations are not equal in the new districts. Also appears the BIA has challenged the recently approved Cherokee Constitution. (Previous VCO Coverage)
