(Vicki Guinn Reporting)
The season for the Collinsville Soccer Club "kicked" off on Saturday, March 4, 2006.
It appeared that all teams played with determination, despite the recent practice cancellations due to bad weather.
U10Girls Coach Steve Royall's team, the Strikers, played a Skiatook team. The Strikers came out strong for the 1st game of the season. In the 2nd half, the Striker's forwards attacked with 8 shots making the final 4 goals of the game. Next week, they will be travelling to Skiatook to play another team at 12:00.
U6 Coach Eric Loffer's "Cardinals" vs. Cheryl Royer's "Gators".
U8 Coaches Tony & Alex Shambrook's "Sparks" vs. the "Stinger's", coach John Gaebel
U6 Black and Silver "Outlaws" coached by James Harley, team captains were Tristan Brummett and Alanda Wilson. Up against the "Little Rascals" coached by Brad Dean
U8 Tammy Kallam's team, the "Kickers" battled the "Thunderbirds", coached by Kendell Ramsey.
U6 The red and white "Sparkies", coached by Doug Pasco, went up against the red and black "Tornados", coached by Johnny Conley. "Tornado" team captains were Abby Stacy and Alyssa Tidwell. Coach Conley reported that the team "gave it their all".
U8 Rebecca Bell's burgundy and white "Sooners" confronted the "Cardinals" coached by Vicki Guinn. The "Sooners" captains were Megan Bell and Chase McColley. Captain for the "Cardinals" was Jordan Spunaugle. Both teams had lots of good saves.
U6 George Schnell's blue and white "Bruisers" took on the "Kickers", coached by Julie Bolin.
U6 "Playing well for their first game", Yellow and Black "Blitz", coached by Terry Jarrard, played the red and blue "Bombers", coach was Kelly McColley. "Blitz" captains were Skylar Jarrard and Madison Couch.
U14Girls "Adrenaline Rush" is what they gave the crowd when they played against Owasso Geckos. Coach Robert Bocock called it a close game; Collinsville scoring one goal in each half, and Owasso only one goal in the second half, leaving Owasso behind, 2-1.
U16Girls The older group also called "Adrenaline Rush" held back Claremore's "Orange Crush" until the second half with Claremore scoring 2 goals. Coach Robert Bocock reported that the home team was short a few players due to injuries, leaving the "Rush" crushed 0-2, but played well despite the loss.
Everyone is welcome to come out to the Collinsville Sports Complex, next to Herald Elementary, to support the teams! Ages 4 through 16. This season we are proud to announce that we are 200 players strong, our highest enrollment ever!
