While all the detailed rules and sponsors are not quite nailed down, I wanted to go ahead and let you be aware that a "Beautiful Collinsville" photo contest will begin soon. So get your cameras out and start trying to capture images that show what a great place Collinsville is.

I will be collecting the submitted photos for display on www.cvilleok.com. A set of judges will pick the winning entries each month and award a cash prize (likely $50) and the winning photos will be enlarged and displayed at locations such as City Hall and used in publicity for Collinsville.

Photos submitted must be photos that you take yourself in or near Collinsville, Oklahoma. If your photos have people prominent in them, those people need to agree to have their image used for publicity purposes by the contest sponsors. The initial sponsors are the Collinsville Chamber of Commerce, Collinsville Municipal Authority, Collinsville Downtown Inc, Bank of the Lakes, The Metropolitan Environmental Trust (M.E.T.) and www.cvilleok.com. There may be additional sponsors as contest details finalize in the next few weeks.

Photographers of all ages and skill levels are encouraged to participate. Separation of entries into different categories might be implemented later depending on the number and types of photos submitted each month. Decisions of the judges will be final.

If you have a recent photo you feels shows "Beautiful Collinsville" email that photo to wrightted@aol.com. If you need to have a print scanned, call (371-1901) or email me and I'll help get that entry in digital format for display on www.cvilleok.com. Only 3 entries per month per individual will be accepted. Please accompany each photo entry with your name, email address, street address, phone, adult status (or age for kids), skill level, photo title, and comments. If the number of email entries grows large I may designate an alternate email for submittals at a later date. The address and phone number info will only be used to contact winners and will not be displayed online.

I'm ready to accept entries now and the deadline for the end of the first "month" will be announced later. -- Ted Wright 3/25/2006

I'm not eligible for the contest and each person will likely have a different view of what shows a beautiful Collinsville but I'll use a few of my own photos on this page until real entries arrive. -- Ted Wright

An update from the April 2006 Chamber of Commerce Newsletter: ... The whole idea is to encourage Collinsville's citizens to find the things they feel make Collinsville unique, beautiful or simply a great place to live, work and raise a family. Photos can be of anything, like a picture of children playing in the park, a tree in bloom or downtown on a busy Saturday afternoon. ...
