Kelli
Dunagan Rebyl Richardson Taylor Whisenhunt Softball June 17th Norman, OK |
Email from Debi Whisenhunt (6/18): The All State Softball game was Saturday June 17th at 2:00. (All State Games are 9 innings to allow everyone playing time) Kelli Dunagan pitched for 3 innings and Rebyl Richardson played 1st for 4 innings. Taylor Whisenhunt played short stop for 4 innings also. They represented the Middle North Team. It was made up of 18 girls from different schools. We played Middle South. Unfortunately we lost 2-4, but Taylor scored both RBI's for the North. And none of the runs scored against us were when Kelli was pitching. The first run we scored was when the catcher from Miami got on base and Taylor was up to bat and fake bunted to allow the girl to steal second successfully. Taylor then hit a double (ground ball to center feild) to score the girl. The other RBI was when Taylor was lead off batter in the 8th inning and got a home run over left field fence, hitting the top row of the bleachers behind the fence where people were setting. She got the only homerun in all the All State games. The game had to be cut an inning short because of the storms that were going to hit and they had to try to squeeze the next game in after ours. So they played 8 full innings. I will try to get you picures as soon as I can. | |
Email from Teri Dunagan (6/19): The All-State Fast Pitch Softball games were played this past Saturday, June 17 at the University of Oklahoma Softball Field. Three of the Collinsville Cardinal softball seniors represented the Middle North team (3A-4A), Kelli Dunagan, pitcher, Rebyl Richardson, 1st Base and Taylor Whisenhunt as Utility. The event started with a team practice and an awards banquet on Friday and the game was played on Saturday. Kelli Dunagan was the starting pitcher striking out eight batters in three innings. Kelli was also lead off batter and went 1-2 at the plate, Rebyl Richardson went 0-1 with a walk, and Taylor Whisenhunt went 2-2 with a home run over the left field fence. The game was scheduled for nine innings but was called after 7 ½ inngs due to severe weather moving into the area, and to allow time for the Large schools to play their game, (which was called after two outs). Coach Stan Irvine was recognized for his 700 wins and was named 2005 Oklahoma High School Fast Pitch Coaches Association Coach of the Year. Again, Kelli and Taylor have signed full scholarships with Rogers State University and Rebyl is going to attend the University of Arkansas on academic scholarships. The girls had a great time and represented the community well. |
