This chopper made a pass over Historic Downtown Collinsville Wednesday afternoon. Perhaps checking the site of the 1967 Guard drill or maybe just saying hello to someone at Angie's?
VCO: History & Banana Splits
After their regular monthly business meeting and a slideshow of historic Collinsville news articles & photos, Victory Cherokee Organization members and guests were treated to banana splits. The meeting was held at the Trinity Faith Church (& VCO headquarters). The refreshments were served upstairs in the church's 1950's room.
During the July 12th VCO business meeting, Danny Stanley reported the group's 501-c3 non-profit status had finally been formalized. District 8 Councilman Buel Anglen reported that environmental studies at the Broadway Bridge project had been completed and construction could likely begin soon. Anglen also reported on events from the Cherokee Tribal Council meet in Tahlequah Monday July 11th. Two new at-large councilmen and two new judges had been approved and sworn in. The local VCO group started making plans for participation in the Cherokee National Holiday Parade Labor Day weekend (Sept. 2nd) in Tahlequah.

These cows were keeping in the shade Wednesday afternoon as summer temperatures continue to rise. The big rains received Monday & Tuesday will help keep things green for at least awhile. This view was from 5th Street on my way to the animal shelter photo below. -- Ted 7/12/2006
