Cardinal Wrestling Summary from Coach Jim Riley 12/20/2006
2 High School Wrestlers Place at Claremore.

Dalton Salisbury won the 160 lbs Championship and Cody Russell placed 4th at the Claremore wrestling tournament this past weekend. Collinsville placed 11th out of 22 teams.

Jr High Wrestlers beat Barnsdall 48-15. Cardinals winning their matches were, Justin Brown, Levi McHenry, Parker Reed, Conner Nair, Joe Keith, Josh Pennington, Josh Loftin, and Kyle Graham.

Varsity Wrestlers hang tough with Powerful Barnsdall. The Cardinal wrestling team came up on the short end of the stick against Barnsdall Tues night. There were several close matches that could have gone but in the end Barnsdall prevailed 51-15. Winning for Collinsville were, Cody Russell, Ryan Morgans, Michael Pitts, and Anthony Graham.
Josh Loftin pinned his Barnsdall opponent at 142 pounds in the Collinsville Junior High competition here Tuesday at the Middle School gym.
Michael Pitts got a pin just over a minute into the final high school match (at 152 pounds) for 6 of Collinsville's 15 team points against Barnsdall.
Ryan Morgans (in light red) had his 135 pound barnsdall opponent on his head temporarily in his 9-2 CHS win.
Anthony Graham won a 4-3 decision (for CHS) over his Barnsdall heavy weight challenger.
Trey Rogers had some success early in his 171 HS match but ended up a pin victim to Barnsdall.
The CHS Wrestling Cheerleaders
Matt West tried to get his 215 pound opponent on his back (above) but lost a close 6-9 decision.
Sean Shilling's opponent (at 119) was the one on his back above but still in control and on his way to a first period pin for Barnsdall.
It appeared Cody Russell could barely see under the bandages covering the top of his head, but he managed a 4-2 overtime win (at 130). Cody benefited from a stalling point to force the overtime at 2-2 then got a takedown in overtime for the win.
Ted's Notes: Dalton Salisbury did not wrestle against Barnsdall due to an injury. Barnsdall did not put wrestlers on the mat for 5 consecutive weights in the JrHi dual giving Collinsville a quick 30-6 lead. Joe Keith and Josh Pennington also got pins for the Collinsville JrHi but I did not get photos.
