Expectations (and temperatures) are high as the CHS Football Cardinals prepare to kickoff the 2006 Fall Season. Coach Bob Craig met with the parents and athletes Monday evening August 7th as he begins his third season as the Cardinals' head coach. Coach Craig considers the parents as part of the "team" and thanked them for their help keeping the players on time, academically eligible, well fed and hydrated, etc. Practice begins today (Aug. 8th) at 2:30pm and 6:30pm for the high school team and this morning for the junior high teams. Craig promised he and the other coaches would be watching closely for heat issues and would not go longer than 25 minutes without helmets off water breaks.
The elementary kids were already in action Monday evening as the high school football team and parents were meeting to discuss the upcoming season. The JrHi and CHS teams will be in helmets today as practice begins with temperatures running mostly in the 100+ range the past few weeks.
I was leaving the football parent's meeting on my way to the concurrent city and school board meetings when I was called back in Monday. Ron Scott and the Quarterback Club presented me with a t-shirt and a certificate thanking me for "captured memories" by my family for many years. -- Ted
