Kayla Burchett
Was Remembered

These balloons were released after a moment of silence in rememberance of 10 year old Kayla Burchett. Kayla would have been on the field with her Herald Elementary fifth grade classmates had she not been murdered last week in Owasso along with her mother Tara Burchett Thompson and Mitch Thompson. Part of the funds raised by the "Meet The Cardinal Night" sponsors (The Cardinal Quarterback Club and the CHS Cheerleaders) will be donated to a trust fund for Kayla's expenses. The American Bank of Oklahoma has pledged to match up to $2500 to that fund.
Also missing tonight's gathering on Sallee Field was CHS Senior Cheerleader Kelsey Hewlett who was seriously injured in a car wreck last week. She is recovering from her injuries but still hospitalized.
