Collinsville EMS was awarded a FEMA contract and deployed to Houston on September 23rd. We weren't told exactly what we'd be doing, so I had no idea what to expect ... however, what I found definately wasn't it!! I didn't get to take any pictures, and I only have 12 minutes of video from the entire week. We were constantly busy. We do have another crew there this week and they are taking pictures. I also have a couple of new acquaintances that are e-mailing me pictures so I'll make sure you get some. We'll have an ambulance in Texas for about 2 more week, and I have since recieved a request from FEMA to send a crew to Louisana after that to start bringing people back to the nursing homes and hospitals. I'm not sure if we'll be able to do that, but I'll let you know.

I'm pretty sure I heard Collinsville in the list of local towns sending ambulances to Beaumont, Texas to help evacutate nursing homes ... etc
... according to Chan 2 TV news at 10pm Sat. Sept. 25th.

If I heard correctly, could you provide additional info or maybe even photos? ... if you/they take any.

Softball Lady Cards trip to the state tournament -vs- Oologah at 1:45 Thursday in OKC (ASA Hall of Fame Stadium 2801 NE 50th). Winners: 4pm Friday (Poteau or Tuttle) and 2pm Saturday. 1972 was Collinsville's only softball state championship (so far). -- Ted

Collinsville City firefighters enter a home on north 10th Saturday afternoon to check out the smoke coming from an attic vent at the back of the house.
The appearance at the Middle School campus continues to change. A large dead tree at the corner of 15th and Spring was removed, sod installed and nighttime lighting improved. The public open house is scheduled for Monday October 10th at 6pm.
The burnt-out building near the temporary city hall was torn down last week as part of the SK&O rail right of way clean up effort. The Co-op grain elevator was still up then (in the background above) but down to some of the interior lumber (below) Sept. 29th and completely gone now.
